VILLAGE KOLONTOBO

VILLAGE KOLONTOBO

Kolontobo, the name of a remote village in the eastern end of East Flores regency, Indonesia. People live from the alienation of telecommunications and power facilities. They can survive to live with the results of dry land agriculture. The only hope was a little rain in the rainy season to irrigate their agricultural land. The main livelihood is slicing palm wine to make drinks that will be sold to the surrounding area. Since 2006, local government, the regent Felix Fernades made the first road to the village Kolontobo. Until today we can enjoy the community Kolotobo way to get there by motorbike. And even then only certain people who can afford to buy a motorcycle. Indeed, this region is still isolated, including several surrounding villages like Basira, Tone, Koten and Lewokoli.
They have the religiosity of the people who are still steeped in culture Lamaholot. Nuba Nara as a place of worship to the ancestors still there. Chiefs who usually tell (coda knalan) about the origin of the soil Patisira and origin of their ancestors. However they can get to know who they really are, when they put themselves in the cultural structure Lamaholot. Koten-Kelen -Hurint- Maran are the names of major parts (kebelen) still cherished in the region.
The issue: whether the government open and direct gaze to this region to dismantle their alienation to find something new there?
